This recording is an edit of the concert Digit-Azioni per Sylvano Bussotti performed in the garage of Villa Lontana on 15 June 2022. The performance is part of the programming around the exhibition IMAGES FOR SOUNDS: Artist Covers for Music Records which explored the medium of the music record as a potential artistic space open to the development of a visual language. The show united more than 140 albums released since the 1950s together with artists’ covers conceived for the express purpose of giving images to sounds. One room of the exhibition space was dedicated to the late Sylvano Bussotti, featuring a selection of his most radical and brilliant covers for his own sheet music, many of them exhibited in public for the first time.
Digit-Azioni per Sylvano Bussotti features Manuel Zurria on flutes, Paolo Ravaglia on clarinet and Jacopo Antonicelli on saxophone performing three solo pieces that are the result of instrumental research conducted by Sylvano Bussotti in the 1980s: Rondò di Scena for 4-flute virtuoso, Brutto, ignudo for contrabass clarinet and electronics, Ballerina Gialla e Pettirosso (1986-89) taken from the collection Voliera for saxophone and a version of SOLO (1966), excerpted from La Passion Selon Sade, reimagined for the 3 instruments with the addition of environmental recordings and electronics.
